COURSES

Courses are offered all year round.Top
> When does a course start ?

A course can start any month of the year, provided that the minimum number of students required is reached for that course.Top
> What days and times is each course offered ?

The days and times for each course are determined by the school based on the availability of the applicants to attend a course. For this reason upon request the school mail a registration form where the applicant indicate his/her preferred days.Top
> What if a class is too easy or too difficult for a student ?

The student should discuss this with the school director to determine a more suitable class.Top
> Can a course be repeated ?

Yes. The same course can be repeated upon request of a student who wishes to feel more confident in studying the same material again.Top
> How many students are in a class ?

There are 5 to 10 students which allows for individual attentionTop
> How frequently are students engaged in Italian conversation ?

Students are encouraged to respond in Italian during the entire class.Top
> Is there homework ?

Yes. Students are expected to complete assignments.Top
> If a class is cancelled how would the student be informed ?

The school will phone and send e-mail as well to the students.Top
> What days and times is each course offered ?

The days and times for each course are determined by the school based on the availability of the applicants who register for a course. For this reason, upon request, the school will mail a registration form which the applicant can complete and returnTop
GENERAL
> How long does it take to find/ receive a book from a seller?

If you buy a book used from an authorized online seller it may take a week to ten days. If the book is ordered from the publisher it takes about a week or two, sometime less but it is not guaranteed.Top
> Does the school sell textbooks? Are books needed from the first day of classes ?

Yes, only for certain language courses. If a book is listed in the page Book of this website or in the brochure of the school after consulting with the school for book availability students should take care of purchasing the book needed, new or used.Top
> How is a student's placement evaluated ?

Student's placement will be determined by the school director after an informal test is given. No test is needed to register in the language course Elementary Italian level 1.Top
> What emphasis is placed on grammar in a language course ?

It is the base of learning the language. It is an indispensable tool. Classes are interactive, though, and offer various types of activities that are not always related to grammar practice.Top
> Will the school honor my choices of time and day of the course and not make changes without consulting me ?

The school will abide by the information of the student on the application.Top
PAYMENTS
> Can a deposit be returned ?

No. The deposit is not refundable. Some courses require a minimum participation of 5 students. If a course is cancelled by The Center for Italian Studies because it does not have the necessary number of participants the deposit is returned in full.Top
> When are fees due ?

REGISTRATION
> Will the school accept a registration form and then enroll the student in a class on a day that is not chosen by that applicant ?

No. The Center always considers the days indicated in the registration form by the applicants. If the Center contacts an applicant to determine his/her availability on some other days the change has to be mutually agreed on both parts.Top
> How long do I have to wait from the moment I send my registration to the start of a course ?
