(2 hour sessions)
Rossellini's and De Sica's neorealism, Fellini's grotesque and magical world, Antonioni's aesthetics, Visconti's sense of decadence in history, Amelio's films as social and political commitment, are some choices of the subjects and themes of this course. Movies, in Italian with subtitles, are viewed at home, then they are examined and discussed in class. Critical readings and writing assigned. This course is taught in Italian for advanced language students or for native Italians who are fond of Italian films.
