Dante's Inferno
8 weeks
(2 hour sessions)
The first of the three canticles of the Divine Comedy, Inferno (Hell) describes the most dramatic experience of Dante’s imaginary journey in the afterlife: a medieval literary masterpiece that deals with human frailty, the power of religion, politics, poetry and love. Classes consist of readings of selected cantos, explanation, and comments, and class discussions. Readings are assigned weekly.
