-Elementary Italian
- Intermediate/Advanced Italian

(Alternative date: July 5-15, 2012)

The dates above are tentative and may be subjected to some changes within the month of July  until the deadline for registrations on March 30. The study trips offered are based upon students' enrollments

Information of general cultural interest for both groups of participants

In both programs we explore the rich culture of the island of Sardinia by visiting the pre-historical nuraghi, the cone shaped mysterious megalithic edifices from the Bronze Age, symbols of a distinctive culture, the Nuragic civilization. We visit the Domus de Janas, (Houses of the Fairies) - chamber tombs dated five thousand years, the sacred wells, recipients of ancient rituals of the worship of waters and fertility, and the Roman and Phoenician ruins. We visit museums and medieval churches in which the faith in the local legendary saints meets the heritage of the powerful maritime republics of Genoa and Pisa, present in Sardinia around the 13th century, and of the subsequent Spanish conquerors. We visit the small villages of fishermen which have been transformed into the sophisticated and relaxing resort towns of today, where old local traditions and art craft are respected and preserved with elegant simplicity by its people. We visit and enjoy the white sandy beaches, and the sea which has, according to all, the most beautiful crystal clear waters one has ever seen, (you will agree). We enjoy the breathtaking coastline of Sardinia, the wilderness of the nature of its inland, the delicious cuisine and wine.
